One of the guidelines that I have use is the ASCVD guideline to manage cholesterol and reduce cardiovascular events. I learned about US preventive task force 2 semesters ago, and my first preceptor introduce me to the apps.
- How have you accessed the national guidelines you have used?
- The app makes it easy to use and apply the guideline since it has calculates risks that you can show to patients that are reluctant to start medication.
- It also has sections that help identify if therapy is working, and other recommendations such as aspirin use and options if there is intolerance to statins.
- How would you find the websites you reviewed this week helpful in your current clinical practice setting?
- having the information readily available in websites is helpful specially when there is concern in what to order, therapy guidelines, findings and other guidance.
- Overall, do you find that national guidelines are being followed in your clinical setting?
- Yes, as my preceptor says: they are a safeguard to keep public and health providers informed.
